The Midwest Biomass Exchange was inspired and catalyzed by work performed on the original Minnesota Biomass Exchange web site created by the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI), Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERT), the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the University of Minnesota and the Green Institute.
These organizations wished to efficiently connect biomass consumers and producers by reducing discovery costs. We share that same mission.
We would especially like to thank the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute which provided us knowledge, support, and their deep experience. We would also like to thank the University of Minnesota at Morris for providing early contract forms and publications to help get us up and running quickly.
The Midwest Biomass Exchange sets member trade policies and business etiquette regarding trades. As the exchange grows, arbitration between parties will become more important. Today that role must be handled by transacting parties and their attorneys. In the future, with advisors, perhaps the exchange can partake in a greater role.
